What does FBA prep actually involve?
Poly bags, bubble wrap and expiry labels: the unglamorous work that decides whether your stock gets accepted.
Prep is everything that must happen to a unit before Amazon’s fulfilment centres will accept it. Every unit needs a scannable barcode. Anything that could leak or spill needs poly-bagging. Fragile items need protective wrap. Date-sensitive products need a printed expiry date in the required format and position.
Amazon publishes prep requirements by category and enforces them at the receiving dock. Get them wrong and shipments are refused, returned or prepped by Amazon at a fee, and none of those outcomes is quick.
Healthcare products almost always carry prep requirements, because liquids, creams and supplements are exactly what the rules were written for. A refused batch does not just cost money: it costs weeks of availability while replacement stock works its way back through the queue.
