How do Transparency codes stop counterfeits?

A unique code on every unit, checked at the warehouse door before the fake can ship.

Two bites: how it works1 min readAll Protect bites

Transparency is Amazon’s serialisation programme. The brand applies a unique 2D code to every individual unit it manufactures. Amazon scans those codes at the fulfilment centre, and any unit of your product arriving without a valid code cannot be sold, whoever is selling it. Counterfeits are blocked before dispatch instead of chased after complaints.

The catch is operational: someone has to print and apply a unique code to every unit, reliably, at packing speed. That is a production line and fulfilment problem as much as a brand-protection one, which is why the capability of your fulfilment partner decides whether Transparency is practical.

For healthcare brands the appeal is obvious. Serialisation at unit level is product integrity in its most literal form, and customers can scan the same code to verify what they bought.

Reading about it is the slow way.
